Elon Musk and Threads

On July 5th, Mark Zuckerberg and the Meta team launched Threads, Meta's rival for Twitter. Within a couple of days, Threads had already reached millions of users and Musk himself has noticed this. Now, Elon is threatening Legal action for hiring former Twitter employees to develop this new app.

The reason for the millions of users to join threads is mostly from the connection to Instagram. It makes it easy to signup and create a feed with people that are already connected through Instagram.

This won't make people fully switch and it doesn't create a true alternative to Twitter if it doesn't keep users engaged and staying on the app, as well as monitoring and maintaining the app as that of Twitter. If threads don't listen to complaints from the app's biggest users, like celebrities, it will be very difficult for people to continue to want to stay on the app.

What is Threads?

Threads is a new app that was just developed on July 5th(2023), that comes from Meta(Meta - formerly known as Facebook and the father company of Instagram, Founded by Mark Zuckerberg) It works a lot like Twitter in allowing people to have more text-based messages and posts rather than such with Instagram. They have made it easily accessible for those who already use Instagram. Accounts also follow over from Instagram to Threads with verified Instagram users also getting verified on Threads. So far it is available in over 100 countries and Apple IOS and Andriod accessible.

So, what will happen?

Meta does have a leg over Twitter at the moment from the difference in the existing user base. Twitter has around 250 million active users compared to Instagram at over 2 billion global users. Even Zuckerberg has said, "It'll take some time, but I think there should be a public conversations app with 1 billion+ people on it." on a Threads post. He also followed up by saying that Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn't quite achieved it.

What do YOU think will come from this?
